Support Groups

We have several Support Groups operating regularly throughout the Auckland region. The groups are often led by a Community Advisor, or a volunteer from the group. They are generally held in a café where you can sit and relax amongst a friendly, non-judgmental  group of people who all understand and live with MS or have a close personal connection to MS (partners, children, friends).

There are many benefits to participating in support groups. These include:

• Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged
• Being able to talk openly and honestly about your feelings with people who understand what you are going through
• Developing a clearer understanding of MS
• Getting practical advice and information from people who live with MS
• Comparing notes about doctors, treatments and alternative options
• Making new friends

New faces are always welcome at Support Groups. If you are interested in coming along, we suggest you first contact your Community Advisor to let them know. The Community Advisor will make sure you are introduced and welcomed to the group.

If you are interested in setting up a new group in your area, or a specific interest group (such as with our Men’s group and Parent’s group), please let us know and we will see what we can do to make it happen.
