MS Auckland run virtual and in-person support groups across Auckland

We believe in connection for everyone

The groups are often led by a Community Advisor, or a volunteer from the group. They are generally held in a café where you can sit and relax amongst a friendly, non-judgmental  group of people who all understand and live with MS or have a close personal connection to MS (partners, children, friends).

Weekly Wanders, by Tracy Gregory

The Weekly Wanders is an uplifting group filled with people who are all at different stages of their MS journey.  The WW was formed because most of us have filled our lives with our job, our family and friends living our normal everyday busy life. But my life changed after being made medically redundant from work.  Suddenly I had lots of time on my hands and although I was surrounded by family and friends, I felt lonely and isolated. I attended the monthly MS groups, but my weeks were still empty.  So at the next monthly group I found myself discussing the situation and found I was not the only person feeling the way I did. We got together and decided what we wanted and needed was a weekly group with no fixed abode that could be flexible to work around other things people may have happening in their lives.

The WW was formed and a Messenger group was set up so we could decide whether to grab a coffee or go out to lunch or visit the museum; the choices are endless. The group has been a great success. Not only do we encourage people with MS to join us, but we also welcome their partners and families and friends. Our group is fun and light-hearted with the aim to enjoy life and each week come away uplifted from the laughter we share.

If you have time to spare in the week and would like to join our crazy bunch, we would love to see you.

For anyone affected by MS

Support groups are for people living with MS as well as their partners, friends, siblings, children – basically anyone who is affected by MS.

Connect with those that simply 'get it'

Support groups are about people coming together to connect with others in a similar boat, share stories, laugh or shed a few tears, build each other up and make new friends.

Either in-person or online

Most of our groups meet in-person for coffee.  We also have virtual support options for those who prefer to connect in this way.
